ROBERT BOBBY
About Us

 Robert Bobby was born in Philadelphia and grew up in the suburb of Newtown Square.  As a young teenager, his brother introduced him to the music of Bob Dylan and that was his doorway into his own musical adventure.  In high school he often frequented The Main Point folk club, getting to hear people like Dave Van Ronk, Chris Smither, Tom Rush, Tim Buckley, Steve Goodman, Muddy Waters and many more.

 

After attending college at Franklin & Marshall in Lancaster, PA, Robert Bobby formed a rock and rhythm & blues band named The Speedboys which gained a widespread  regional following.  They released two (2) self  produced albums which were critically acclaimed in publications like Rolling Stone, Musician Magazine, The Village Voice, The Los Angeles Herald-Examiner & Philadelphia Inquirer.  

 

The Robert Bobby Trio  released A Brief History of Time on CD in 2011 and it has been getting fabulous response from the folk DJ community.

Over the last several years, Robert Bobby has released his cd’s F*U*B*A*R and S*N*A*F*U  & TODAY! which have been getting  critical acclaim & air play on folk radio shows throughout the country & overseas also.

 

Robert Bobby has had the pleasure of opening for such diverse acts as  Dr. John, Mick Taylor, Dickie Betts (at The Chameleon Club Lancaster, PA), Chris Smither (at the Whitaker Center, Harrisburgh, PA), Roy Book Binder(for Poconotes in the Poconos, PA),  & Fred Eaglesmith (at The Tin Angel in Philadelphia, PA) and most recently for Diana Jones (Midtown Scholar) and Steve Forbert (Ephrata Main Theater) and James Maddock (MU42 Lancaster))

 

Robert Bobby has performed at the Whitaker Center, The Chameleon in Lancaster, Tin Angel, Steel City Coffeehouse, Midtown Scholar, Ephrata Main Theater the emerging artist showcase at Falcon Ridge Festival and for the Susquehanna Folk Music Society and a Quad Showcase at NERFA.
